North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited China on October 24 and attended the opening of the long-delayed New Yalu River Bridge linking the two countries.
According to the Associated Press, Kim met senior Chinese Communist Party official Wang Huning during his visit to Dandong and visited a memorial commemorating China’s role in the Korean War. The bridge is designed to accommodate heavy trucks and container traffic, potentially improving cross-border trade.
The visit reflects efforts to deepen economic and diplomatic ties between North Korea and China. Beijing remains a key trading partner for Pyongyang, and the new crossing is expected to support more regular commercial movement.
