A hospital in Kunming, southwest China, launched a dedicated ‘green channel’ on October 24 to help Bangladeshi patients access specialist eye care. Bangladesh’s Consul General in Kunming, Shahnaz Ranu, inaugurated the service at Kunming Huaxia Eye Hospital.
Under the arrangement, patients can seek preliminary consultations and have medical documents reviewed before travelling. The hospital plans to provide priority appointments, interpretation assistance and follow-up consultations after patients return to Bangladesh.
At the launch, the consul general stressed transparent treatment costs, patient safety and dignity. She also urged cooperation in training Bangladeshi eye specialists and nurses, as well as institutional partnerships that could strengthen eye care within Bangladesh.
