Bangladesh is preparing for a possible rise in dengue infections in November, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare M A Muhit said on October 27. He noted that October and November are traditionally high-transmission months and that prevention and treatment efforts have been intensified.
According to the state minister, city authorities have stepped up cleaning operations, volunteers have joined mosquito-control activities, and about 2,000 doctors received refresher training in dengue case management last month.
Authorities are also watching transmission outside Dhaka, including in southern districts such as Khulna and Patuakhali. Eliminating standing water and mosquito breeding sites, while seeking timely medical care for symptoms, remains central to prevention. The anticipated surge is a risk assessment, not a confirmed November outcome.
