Eligible households and businesses in Bangladesh could receive Tk 10.50 per unit for surplus rooftop solar electricity supplied to the national grid under the government’s net-metering incentive arrangement, according to information released on October 27.
Under the Net Metering Guidelines 2025, customers who commission qualifying rooftop systems and begin exporting surplus electricity by February 28, 2027 may receive the incentive for three years, through February 28, 2030. Payments for eligible exported electricity are intended to be credited to customers’ bank accounts every three months.
The payment is conditional rather than an automatic benefit for everyone owning solar panels. Prospective participants should confirm connection, metering, eligibility and settlement rules with their electricity distribution utility.
