Nepal resumed exporting 40 megawatts of electricity to Bangladesh on Friday, October 23, after a disruption lasting nearly two months, Bangladesh Power Development Board chairman Rezaul Karim said on October 25.

Flood damage on August 26 affected the Trishuli and Chilime hydropower plants previously authorised to supply the electricity. India subsequently approved alternative hydropower generation for transmission across its grid to Bangladesh.

Under a five-year agreement signed in October 2024, Nepal supplies up to 40 MW seasonally between June 15 and November 15. The revised arrangement permits electricity from the Solu Khola and Kabeli B-1 plants.
