National Desk: Bangladesh has urged Commonwealth countries to strengthen climate resilience, mobilise investment and support the safe, voluntary and dignified repatriation of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar.

According to a November 3 BSS report citing the foreign ministry, Acting Foreign Minister Humaiun Kobir made the appeal at a pre-Commonwealth summit foreign ministers’ retreat in Antigua and Barbuda on November 2.

He called for operationalising the Loss and Damage Fund and a coordinated Commonwealth investment mechanism. Peace, food and energy security and responsible use of emerging technologies were also discussed. The remarks represent diplomatic proposals, not a newly completed funding or repatriation agreement.
