Bangladesh’s Meteorological Department advised Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra maritime ports on October 29 to lower their cautionary signals after the likelihood of squally weather decreased over the North Bay and adjacent coastal waters.

The new advisory follows earlier instructions to display local cautionary signal No. 3 because of weather associated with Cyclone Arnab. Authorities had warned fishing boats and trawlers to remain cautious in the North Bay.

The latest notice marks a change from the previous coastal warning, but residents and vessel operators should continue to follow updated official forecasts. Lowering the port signals does not necessarily eliminate every local weather hazard.
