Bangladesh’s National Curriculum and Textbook Board aims to deliver textbooks for the 2027 academic year to upazila-level distribution points by November 30, ahead of the new school year. The programme is intended to serve nearly 40 million students.
According to the board’s October 28 production figures, printing was 98.21% complete for pre-primary books, 87.67% for primary books and 51.18% for secondary books. Delays in some lots for higher classes have prompted additional monitoring.
About 307.2 million textbooks are scheduled for printing through 113 companies. Officials say poor-quality sheets and books have been rejected and slower contractors have received notices. The board’s deadline remains a target, with timely delivery and quality assurance still to be demonstrated.
