International technology partnerships are often celebrated when agreements are announced. Their public value, however, emerges when students acquire skills, researchers gain access to equipment and companies create durable jobs.

Bangladesh’s emerging interest in AI and semiconductor collaboration offers a chance to design partnerships around these tangible outcomes. Universities should be able to demonstrate joint research, faculty exchanges, practical training and open pathways for graduates to work in relevant industries.

Public funding needs transparent milestones. How many students completed industry placements? How many collaborative projects produced reproducible results? Did local firms develop products or services they can sell? These measures matter more than the number of ceremonial meetings.

Strong partnerships also require attention to data governance, intellectual property, research independence and equitable access beyond a handful of major institutions. An inclusive technology strategy should reach regional universities and small businesses.

The best measure of success will be a generation of professionals able to solve problems and build businesses in Bangladesh, with international connections that continue long after a delegation returns home.
