Bangladesh’s Directorate of Government Accommodation has instructed allottees who have sublet government houses or flats to remove unauthorised tenants by 31 October.
An urgent notice issued on 29 October says renting out an entire allotted home or even individual rooms breaches the Bangladesh Allotment Rules, 1982. Allotments may be cancelled after the deadline, with further action under the rules and possible disciplinary proceedings through the allottee’s employing authority.
The directive follows inspections that reportedly identified cases of unauthorised subletting. Effective enforcement will require consistent inspections and fair application of the rules.
