Foreign ministers from the Group of 20 are gathering in Atlanta on 30–31 October, with disagreements over the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East expected to complicate discussions.
The United States, which holds the G20 presidency, also wants to focus on trade imbalances, energy security, supply chains and critical minerals. Divergent positions among member states may make a comprehensive joint statement difficult, according to diplomatic observers.
The meeting is intended to help prepare for the G20 leaders’ summit scheduled for December. No agreement or outcome should be assumed before the ministers conclude their talks.
