US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is hosting the foreign ministers of Australia, India and Japan in Atlanta on October 31 for the Quad grouping’s third ministerial meeting of 2026.
The meeting comes as preparations continue for a proposed Quad leaders’ summit in Manila in November and as a two-day G20 foreign ministers’ gathering concludes in the same US city.
Differences over the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East have complicated G20 discussions. The meetings are an opportunity for diplomacy, but no new Quad agreement or G20 consensus should be assumed before the participants announce an outcome.
