Dhaka Metropolitan Police has tightened security across the capital after a series of crude-bomb explosions and a bus arson incident, deploying more than 200 checkpoints along key roads, intersections and entry points.

Police said explosions were reported on Friday in several areas, including Malibagh, Mohakhali and Jatrabari. A bus that had earlier been seized following an accident was also set on fire while parked outside Kafrul Police Station. Police have not publicly identified who was responsible for the incidents, and investigations are continuing.

Additional personnel have been deployed at four major entry points to Dhaka, while patrols and surveillance have been increased at strategic locations. Investigators are also collecting CCTV footage from affected areas.

At least one person was reported injured in the explosions. Law-enforcement officials said the additional measures are intended to prevent further incidents and maintain public safety.
