The body of 13-year-old Ishiat Shahriar Opratim, the only son of Dr Nahida Begum, an associate professor in the Bangla Department at Comilla University, has been recovered about 22 hours after he went missing from the Kotbari area of Cumilla.

His body was spotted around 1:00pm on Saturday, September 19, in the Sandanda area near the university campus. Mahmudul Hasan Khan, a teacher in the university’s Anthropology Department, confirmed the recovery.

Md Rakibul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Sadar Dakshin Police Station, said police were heading to the scene after receiving the information. No cause of death had been announced immediately.

Opratim was a class-seven student at Comilla Border Guard Public School. He had left home around 3:00pm on Friday and did not return. His family later filed a general diary, while police and relatives searched for him and reviewed CCTV footage overnight.

Updated information based on police and university-linked confirmations reported by The Daily Star.
