Members of the Noakhali district branch of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement launched an attack on the residence of Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday (February 6) at 1 PM.

The incident took place at Mia Bari in Bara Rajapur village, located in Ward No. 1 of Basurhat Municipality, Companyganj Upazila, Noakhali. During the attack, the protesters were seen chanting “Naraye Takbir, Kauwa Kauwa”. As of 1:50 PM, the attack was still ongoing.

According to reports, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement’s Noakhali district branch announced the attack earlier that morning via their official Facebook page. The post read:

“Revolutionaries of Noakhali, get your bulldozers ready! March to Kauwa Quader’s house! Today at 11 AM.”

Eyewitnesses reported that some protesters took positions on the roof, inside the house, and outside the premises, chanting slogans. They set fire to household furniture, railings, and a burnt-out vehicle parked in front of the house.

Local resident Saiful Islam stated that Obaidul Quader does not have a personal house on the property; rather, it belongs to his younger brother, Kader Mirza. Following the attack announcement on social media, journalists and curious onlookers gathered at the site from early morning.

One of the protesters remarked:

“Obaidul Quader is responsible for inciting violence and attacks on students across the country. Today, students and the public are expressing their anger. They are chanting ‘Kauwa Kauwa.’ This is the fate of those who engage in bad politics—this is our message.”
