Cristiano Ronaldo is set to turn 40 on Wednesday, having celebrated his final match before his birthday on Monday (February 4). The Portuguese superstar marked the occasion in style, scoring twice for Al Nassr in the AFC Champions League. His brace helped Al Nassr secure a dominant 4-0 victory over Al Wasl.

Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 44th minute with a penalty before netting his second in the 78th minute with a powerful header from a Sadio Mané cross.

This takes Ronaldo’s tally to 23 goals in 25 matches for Al Nassr this season and six goals in five AFC Champions League appearances.

With these two goals, Ronaldo has now scored 923 career goals, moving just 77 goals away from the historic 1,000-goal milestone. Given his current form and fitness, reaching this landmark seems well within his grasp.

However, in a recent interview, Ronaldo downplayed the significance of reaching 1,000 goals, stating, “If I achieve it, it will be fantastic. But I am not obsessed with it. Talking about it repeatedly has become tiresome.”

Adding to the excitement, Ronaldo also introduced a new goal celebration. After scoring, he lifted his hands in an airplane gesture before slowly bringing them down—a move that has already captivated his fans worldwide.
