Renowned Bangladeshi cricket analyst and journalist Dev Chowdhury has embraced Islam. On Friday (31 January), he officially accepted Islam by reciting the Shahadah at Darussalam Shahi Mosque in the capital following the Jummah prayers. Popular Islamic speaker Abdul Hai Saifullah was present during the occasion.
Before accepting Islam, Dev Chowdhury delivered a brief speech in the presence of worshippers, stating, “I am willingly accepting Islam today. Although I cannot read Arabic yet, I have three Bangla-translated copies of the Quran at home.”
Following the Shahadah, the worshippers warmly welcomed him. Many embraced him and presented him with flowers and clothing as congratulatory gifts. The news of his conversion quickly spread on social media, becoming a topic of widespread discussion.
