Bangladesh has decided to buy 11 additional Boeing aircraft, taking the national carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ planned Boeing orders to 25 jets.
Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing officials, that the additional purchase comes as Dhaka seeks closer trade ties with the United States amid concerns over tariffs on Bangladeshi exports.
Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that US Ambassador to Dhaka Brent T. Christensen welcomed Bangladesh’s decision to procure the additional 11 Boeing aircraft.
The planned acquisition would support Biman’s fleet expansion and longer-term capacity. Published reports did not provide full details on aircraft models, delivery schedules or financial terms of the deal.
