Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense issued an all-clear on Friday night after earlier alerts warning of potential danger in several parts of the kingdom, according to Reuters.
The alerts were sent to residents in areas including Jeddah and Taif in Mecca province, Khamis Mushait in the southwest, and Al Ula in the northwest. The public warning did not specify the nature of the potential threat.
Reuters reported the alerts against the backdrop of an increase in attacks launched toward Saudi Arabia by Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis, who have stepped up regional military activity in recent months. Saudi authorities did not attribute the alerts themselves to a specific incident in the public warning.
The later all-clear indicated that the immediate alert had ended. Residents were advised through official channels as authorities continued to monitor the security situation.
