A new well at the Titas gas field in Brahmanbaria has begun supplying around 12 to 13 million cubic feet of gas per day to the national grid, with production formally inaugurated on Saturday, September 19.
The Titas-28 well, operated under Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited, is located at the Titas ‘C’ site in Suhilpur of Brahmanbaria Sadar. Drilling began on December 15, 2025 and was completed on June 19, 2026, reaching a measured depth of about 3,601 metres.
BGFCL says the project cost around Tk 200 crore including VAT and taxes. The well was developed as part of efforts to increase domestic gas production and reduce pressure on an energy system facing persistent supply shortages.
The additional volume is modest compared with national demand, but it is a meaningful addition at a time when gas shortages continue to affect industries and power generation.
